Llanelli Scarlets big home win over the Leinster Lions guaranteed them one of the four Welsh regional slots in the top European tournament next season, while Newport Gwent Dragons’ stunning six try demolition of Cardiff Blues ensured they will finish among the top four Welsh finishers.

Edinburgh Rugby also clinched one of the two Scottish tickets into the Heineken Cup with their bonus point victory in Cork over Munster. While Glasgow can technically catch them on points, The Borders are well adrift as the third placed Scottish district in the Celtic League table.

Other qualifiers to date for the Heineken Cup next season are Castres Olympique, who won the Sud Radio Challenge in the first half of the season and the Newcastle Falcons, who defeated Sale Sharks in the Powergen Cup final at Twickenham at the weekend.
