IRB Young Player of the Year Sam Davies makes his first PRO12 start when the Ospreys take on Glasgow Warriors at the Liberty Stadium on Friday evening.

Davies starts alongside Tito Tebaldi at half back against a Glasgow side desperate to bounce back from last weekend’s heavy home defeat to the Dragons.

Elsewhere for Steve Tandy’s side, Duncan Jones leads from the front at loosehead with Wales squad member Aaron Jarvis back at tighthead. Richard Fussell, Hanno Dirksen and Jeff Hassler provide a real threat from the back three.

Tandy though is ready for a real threat from the Scottish side: He said: “Glasgow have been probably the most improved team in the league over the last few seasons and are competing consistently at the top end of the PRO12 and in Europe.

“They’ve been able to put together a strong squad combining Scottish talent and good overseas players.

“They’ll be strengthened this weekend by the return of their internationals and will no doubt want to keep their good run against us going. We are going to have to continue the improvements we’ve seen over the last couple of weeks and compete right across the field.

“This group of players have been working hard in training over the course of the last month and have built towards this game, one we always knew would be a tough challenge. Some of them have really put their hand up and we’ve learnt a lot about the character of the group.

“We are in second place in the PRO12 and after this game, the next league fixtures will be the Christmas derbies when anything can happen. It’s important we keep building momentum, in the league and for the Heineken Cup double-header against Castres.”

Glasgow recall seven internationals themselves and have a strong side ready to travel to the Liberty.

Tommy Seymour, Sean Lamont, Ruaridh Jackson, Chris Cusiter, Ryan Grant, Pat MacArthur and Jonny Gray have all been included.

Stuart Hogg continues at full-back with DTH van der Merwe moving from centre to the wing and Seymour coming in on the opposite flank.

Mark Bennett partners Lamont at centre, while Jackson and Cusiter will form the half-back pairing.
