With some potential mouthwatering head to heads on show at the Principality Stadium on Saturday the Cardiff Blues head coach believes the players can force their way onto the Wales tour to the US and Argentina this summer.

Asked whether Judgement Day will have a say on Wales selection Wilson replied: “Absolutely.

“If you are going to look at three games you are going to look at European semi-finals and finals because those are the intensity that you want to judge your players at and also local derbies.

“When you get to the business end of the season everyone is playing their best teams in the big games and you really find out about your players. That’s where I think the likes of Jarrod Evans has impressed a lot.”

The Blues are fifth in conference A of the Guinness PRO14 and are keen to maintain momentum ahead of their Challenge Cup final with Gloucester. The Ospreys were convincingly beaten 35-17 at last seasons Judgement Day and Wilson has warned his players to expect a backlash from the Swansea based region.

“At the time we hadn’t beaten the Ospreys for a long time,” he said.
“We went into Judgement Day last year and we beat them in quite some style. For the first 60 minutes of that game we played some of the best rugby we have played under me.

“It was a really enjoyable day out and a big platform gained for us in terms of an achievement at the end of the season. We need to keep some momentum going into the Challenge Cup final. They will be looking to get one up on us but we will go into the derby with the Ospreys with the mindset of picking up another derby win.”

Judgement Day is organised in joint partnership between the WRU, Pro Rugby Wales, Cardiff Blues, Dragons, Scarlets and Ospreys.
