Celts and Druids thrive in Edinburgh

The first outing for Wales U18s’ Celts and Druids in Scotland over the weekend was a fruitful one.

The teams were up against Scotland’s East U18 and West U18 sides – made up of all four of the country’s academy regions – on the indoor surface at Oriam, the national side’s Sports Performance Centre in Edinburgh.

Wales put on an enterprising display of free-flowing rugby across the board. First up were the Celts, who won 41-10 thanks to a brace of tries apiece from Ben Cambriani and Morgan Richards, as well as tries from Ioan Davies, Osian Knott and Ewan Rosser. Llew Smith added three conversions.

The Druids then swept to a nine-try, 53-0 victory. Frankie Jones touched down twice, as Dom Booth, Carwyn Tuipulotu, Ellis Bevan, Ioan Lloyd, Dean James and Harri Doel all crossed, with conversions from Luke Scully and Rhys Davies.

All the more pleasing for Wales U18 coaches Geraint Lewis and Chris Horsman was that every one of their players got at least a half of rugby under their belt at Oriam.
