Springbok star Bryan Habana is expected to be passed fit to face Wales in the opening game of the Dove Men Series on Saturday.

The former International Rugby Board World Player of the Year missed four weeks of action after he pulled his hamstring in the final Rugby Championship tie against New Zealand last month.

But the veteran wing came through his return for French giants Toulon at the weekend and is expected to grace the Millennium Stadium turf once more this weekend.

Bok coach Heyneke Meyer will name his side to face the reigning RBS 6 Nations Champions at the Millennium Stadium (5.30pm kick off) on Wednesday and squad doctor Craig Roberts is confident that one of the world’s leading players will be on the team sheet.

“Bryan played 63 minutes in his first game back from pulling his hamstring. He came through that well and we’re happy with where he is. He’s looking good at this stage,” said Springbok doctor Craig Roberts.

Habana’s recovery has cleared any injury concerns for Meyer ahead of Saturday’s clash.

South Africa have won their last 13 encounters against Wales since Graham Henry’s men marked the opening of the Millennium Stadium with a 29-19 success in 1999.

But the former Leicester Tigers coach insists the tourists will not be taking Warren Gatland’s troops lightly.

“We are not targetting any particular games on this tour but Wales are an unbelievable team and the in-form team in the northern hemisphere,” said Meyer.

“Every game between us recently has been very close and we know they will come out firing.

“They have been together for a while and have proved they can beat the best. They have a simple game plan but are incredibly efficient at doing it.

“What many of their players achieved with the Lions is sure to give them confidence but we are not Australia. This is about us.”
