There were fears the veteran No. 10 could be a doubt for next month’s internationals after damaging the AC joint in his right shoulder for the Scarlets against Newport Gwent Dragons on New Year’s Eve.

But a scan revealed that the British Lions star has sustained a grade one AC joint sprain in his right shoulder.

Now Jones is expected to be back in time to face London Irish in the Heineken Cup a week on Sunday.

Jones, 32, said: “The physio told me straight away that he was very optimistic so I was happy about that.

“The injury isn’t too bad and I should only be out for a couple of weeks. There are no concerns for the Six Nations.”

Prolific points-scorer Jones will miss the Scarlets’ Magners League trip to Munster on Sunday.

But Jones aims to be back for the Welsh region’s final two Pool Six ties against Toby Booth’s Guinness Premiership giants and Brive.
