There were 12 tries to savour for the home fans with Paul Stubbs, Matthew Green and Matthew Williams also grabbing a pair each, and the try-fest was perfectly complimented by the boot of Gwylim Evans who landed 11 conversions and two penalties for a match tally of 28 points.
The highest scorers of the round were Glynneath who hammered Rhyl 92-0, while Felinfoel made the three division gap between themselves and Penygroes tell as they ran out 52-7 winners at home.
Former Llanelli back row man Mike Buckingham scored three of the Division Two West side’s eight tries and there were two more for his back row colleague Carl Edwards. Simon Gardiner, Matthew Banner and Daniel Evans were the other try-scorers. Outside half Stuart Wall converted four and Chris Keenan added anther two.
Fellow Two West team Penclawdd had to withstand a second-half fightback from Rhiwbina, of Division Four East, before running out 22-13 victors on the road. Fullback Rhys Williams was the star performer for the visitors with one of their three tries, two conversions and a penalty.
There was also a good win on the road for Carmarthen Athletic who triumphed 34-6 at Baglan, but Neath Athletic found Colwyn Bay too hot to handle in the North as they conceded five tries in a 41-15 defeat.
Glais pipped Bettws 26-24 to reach the second round and Llanybydder had to pull out all the stops to beat Caernarfon 17-12.
