Scarlets face tricky Heineken Cup task

Should the Scarlets defeat current European champions Munster in their quarter-final they will face an away trip at in-form team Leicester Tigers or French heavyweights Stade Francais Paris.

Today’s draw means they could face a further two sides who have claimed the Heineken Cup, having already played two teams that have previously been crowned European champions.

The Scarlets should feel confident after completing the Pool stage with a 100 per cent record, with double victories over three-times Heineken Cup winners Toulouse and 1999 Champions Ulster.

The prospect of facing two more champions in the shape of Munster and Leicester Tigers will be a challenge that Phil Davies and his coaching staff will relish.

The Munster match is on the weekend of March 31st and April 1st, with Scarlets executives yesterday confirming the quarter-final tie will take place at Stradey Park and not the larger Liberty Stadium in Swansea.
