Wales U19 down the ‘Old Enemy’
Both sides looked threatening from the whistle, with both the Welsh back row and back line looking sharp. England had a key chance denied on the 4 minute mark, with Rhiannon Evans and Michaela Reed working together to make a try-saving tackle on Stacey Hollier.
Minutes later, Gemma Williams showed exceptional turn-of-pace and strength to hand off her opposite number and cross the line, only to be denied by a knock-on verdict. It was the visitors who got the first points on the board through a Charlotte Beaman penalty in front of the posts.
Wales were on the front-foot in terms of chances throughout the second half, with both Michaela Reed and Eulon Davies coming close. Midway through the half, Wales’ pressure was finally rewarded as speedster Hannah Szigetvari rushed over for the home side’s only points of the game.
