Griffiths has been named captain for their trip to Galashiels in the absence of Rory Thornton, who has been called into the Ospreys squad to play Edinburgh. Wales kicked off their Six Nations campaign in emphatic fashion with their first win over England in ten matches at Under-20 level.
The 21-15 triumph eased the pain of last year’s 67-7 defeat to the Red Rose, and Griffiths wants to see a repeat performance against Scotland, who suffered a heavy 47-6 defeat to France.
He said: “Beating England definitely brings pressure. We definitely go up to Scotland as favourites after beating the world champions. But we have a lot of confidence in the camp and we know we need to take the same focus up to Scotland.
“It was an ideal start against the double world champions. Preparations had been going really well and to come away with a win has given us massive confidence going into the Scotland game and the rest of the tournament.”
Ospreys youngster Adam Beard will replace regional team-mate Thornton in the second-row for the fixture, that kicks off at Gala RFC at 5.55pm. There is just one other change, with Ospreys and Bridgend centre Owen Watkin joining Garyn Smith in the midfield, with Barney Nightingale moving to the left wing in place of Rhys Williams.
Griffiths added: “With Rory being away it gives a chance for Adam Beard to come into the team. He’s been training really well and we have some other combinations.
“It’s a massive honour to be given the captaincy at Under-20 level. I’d like to think I’ve got a fair bit of experience by captaining Newport and hopefully we can go up to Scotland and get the victory.”
