Brought up in Aberdare, Ian started his club career at Pontypridd, before moving to the Ospreys.
He made his Wales debut in Puerto Madryn against Argentina in 2006, galloping in from 60 metres to score his first and, so far, only try for Wales.
He was an ever present in both the 2012 Grand Slam and the 2013 RBS 6 Nations Championship winning campaigns and toured Australia with the British and Irish Lions in 2013.
