Dwayne Peel
Dwayne Peel made his senior international debut as a replacement against Japan in 2001 after being capped at all schoolboy levels and gaining two U21 caps.
The RBS Six Nations campaign in 2005 saw him winning a Grand Slam medal and earning two Man-of-the-Match awards against Scotland and Ireland. That form, and his rising profile, gained Peel a start in all three tests with the British and Irish Lions in New Zealand in 2005.
Originating from Tumble, Peel has been at the Llanelli Scarlets for the duration of his career. He is now firmly established as one of the world's leading No.9s, and one of Wales's brightest prospects.
The 2006–2007 season saw Peel make 23 appearances for the Welsh region, scoring four tries including two scored in the Scarlets' Heineken Cup campaign.
Peel was selected for Wales's 2006 Invesco Perpetual Series; he starred against Australia, put in a try-scoring performance against Canada and played in the loss to New Zealand in the final match of the Series. Peel also appeared for Wales in every game of the 2007 RBS Six Nations.
Peel was rested from the squad that departed for Australia for the two-Test tour in May, but in June was named in Wales's 41-man preliminary Rugby World Cup 2007 summer training squad. He made the final 30-man RWC squad in August and played in both matches of Wales's Invesco Perpetual Summer Series against Argentina and France.
Peel made appearances in Wales's Rugby World Cup Pool B matches against Canada, Australia and Fiji and, after selection by Caretaker Coach Nigel Davies, played in the inaugural Prince William Cup match against world champions South Africa at the Millennium Stadium on November 24th.
New Wales Coach Warren Gatland selected Peel in his 2008 RBS Six Nations squad; the scrum half made a substitute appearance against Scotland and started against the Azzurri at the Millennium Stadium. During the tournament Peel announced a move to Sale Sharks for the 2008–2009 season, after signing a three year contract with the English Premiership side.
