Chris Czekaj
Chris Czekaj's five tries in the 2005 U21 Six Nations campaign caught the eye of the Welsh selectors who took him on the 2005 tour of the USA and Canada. His 13 tries in 18 games for Cardiff during that 2004-2005 season also caught the eyes of Cardiff Blues selectors who drafted him into the regional squad. He made two appearances before the season was out and subsequently earned himself a professional contract with the Cardiff Blues beginning at the start of the 2005-2006 season.
Czekaj remains with Cardiff Blues; he scored ten tries for the club in the 2005–2006 season and eight in the 2006–2007 season.
He became the 59th teenager to play for Wales when he stepped out against Canada on June 11th 2005 bagging a try on his debut in the process as he did when he debuted for Wales U16 against Italy U17 in Calvisano on April 23rd 2002.
A product of the highly successful Llandaff Rugby Club junior section, he first started playing rugby when he was seven. He has played for Cardiff Schools and East Wales at U11 and progressed from there.
Czekaj received a call-up to the Wales squad for the 2007 RBS Six Nations, and represented his country against Ireland and Scotland. He was also included in Gareth Jenkins's Wales squad for the two-Test tour of Australia in May 2007; he appeared in the first Test in Sydney but sustained multiple breaks to his right leg early in the second Test in Brisbane. Subsequently, Czekaj will certainly miss the 2007 Rugby World Cup and the injury is likely to keep him out of action for up to a year.
