It’s crunch time in WSC U18 Rugby today (Wednesday, 4 November) with the unbeaten leaders in both Conferences going head-to-head.
In Cardiff, reigning Conference A champions Glantaf welcome the team they beat in last year’s final, Coleg y Cymoedd to see who can make it five games unbeaten, while in Conference B Cardiff & Vale College host Newport HS.
CAVC warmed up for the big showdown with Rob Sidoli’s Newport HS side by beating Neath & Port Talbot College 55-0 in their last outing last month. Newport went even higher by winning 66-19 at home against Ysgol Dyffryn Aman.
Whoever comes out on top will take a massive step towards taking the title, although they will meet again in the final round of matches on 9 December in Newport.
The Conference A clash between Glantaf and Cymoedd will be the game of the day with both teams carrying unbeaten tags after four rounds. Many of the players from both teams will have been mixing in the Wales U18 camp last week, but any friendships formed will be put aside this afternoon.
Cymoedd have lost the last two finals and are keen to go one better this season, while Glantaf finally won the title for the first time last year in their second final. The champions comfortably beat Bridgend College 39-15 in the last round, while Cymoedd were 59-24 winners over Coleg Sir Gar.
Third place Llandovery College, champions in 2024 and 2025, used their 38-12 home win over Coleg Gwent last month to stay within three points of the top two. The host Cymoedd in Round 6.
Whitchurch HS are in fourth and bidding for a second successive semi-final appearance. They held off Coleg Llandrillo 29-26 in their last outing and head to Bridgend College today.
