Aberavon head coach Chris Davies will be hoping lightning can strike twice when he takes his side to the Brewery Field for this week’s televised Super Rygbi Cymru battle against Bridgend (Tonight, KO 7.30pm).
The Wizards kicked off their 150th anniversary season in fine style with a 36-17 win over the Ravens at the Talbot Athletic Ground on the opening weekend but haven’t won since.
Last weekend they were put to the sword by reigning champions Llandovery, who beat them 66-21 at Church Bank.
But Davies will not only be eyeing up a double over his club’s Ospreylian neighbours but also looking to make it two wins on successive nights after seeing his Cardiff University team topple Cardiff Met by a record margin (38-14) in BUCS Super Rugby in the ‘Cardiff Clash’ at the Arms Park.
Bridgend head coach Scott Baldwin has rotated his squad following last weekend’s 26-26 draw with Swansea. There are three changes in the backs, with two new wingers in Edd Howley and Gabe Lacey, and a change at scrum half, where Harvey Nash regains the jersey.
Up front, Marc Thomas, McKenzie Scales and Nathan Evans, who were all on the bench last week, refresh the front five, while Cody-Ray David and James Richards pair up in the second row. Skipper Zac O’Driscoll is joined in the back row by Ioan Davies and Benji Williams.
