Fans were able to cheer three Wales wins on the same day after the senior men and women’s team did the double over the Barbarians and Wales U20 beat host nation Georgia on the opening day of the World Rugby Junior World Championships on Saturday.
But the action doesn’t stop there. While Sean Lynn’s women’s team will take a well-earned break before regrouping to plan for the WXV tournament in September, Steve Tandy’s side will be back in action in the Welsh capital on Saturday 4 July as the new Nations Championship kicks off.
Fiji is playing all its home games in the tournament in the U.K. this summer and has chosen Cardiff City Stadium as its home venue to play Wales in round one. It will be the last chance to see the senior Welsh men’s team play on home soil until November – and on the back of successive wins over Italy and the Baa-Baas.
Tandy is due to name his official squad for the Nations Championship July games on Tuesday 30 June, with the team to face Fiji announced on Thursday 2 July.
Tickets for the game ARE STILL AVAILABLE and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster and Cardiff City Stadium Events.
Meanwhile, Wales U20 will be back in action on Thursday when they take on Uruguay in their second pool match in Tbilisi (kick-off 10am UK time).
Having won their opening game at the tournament for the first time since 2019, the U20 group has also been boosted by the news that Cardiff Rugby wing Tom Bowen won’t face any further sanction after being sent-off for receiving two yellow cards in the triumph over Georgia.
