LEINSTER 68 – 14 OSPREYS
There was no dream ending for Ospreys skipper Jac Morgan, or for Dan Edwards and Iestyn Morgan on their 50th appearances, as they ran into a double chasing Leinster side who warmed up for their Champions Cup final clash with Bordeaux-Begles by running in 10 tries at the Aviva Stadium.
The Ospreys did manage to score two in reply with Wales outside half Edwards picking up a try and two con versions to tally his season’s tally of points in the BKT United Rugby Championship through the century mark. He ended up third in the list, behind Chris Smith and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, with 101.
The home onslaught began as early as the fourth minute when Ireland and British & Irish Lions lock Joe McCarthy crossed the Ospreys line. The bonus-point came within 23 minutes, and it was 28-7 at the break.
The Ospreys eventually got on the scoresheet via lock Huw Sutton in the 31st minute. After that they had to wait until two minutes before the end for Edwards to claim a second try and pop over a second conversion.
Leinster, the reigning URC champions, ensured they finished third in the final rankings to earn a home draw against the Lions in the quarter finals by running in six more tries in the second half. McCarthy picked up his hat-trick, Larmour grabbed a second and Ciaran Frawley converted five of the six scores.
