Four tries by impressive centre Mali Walker-Hunt guided Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Dur to a 64-27 victory over Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy in the Girls U16 Schools Final at Rodney Parade in the Gocompare Road to Principality 2026 series.
Walker-Hunt’s silky running skills proved too hot to handle for the north Walians in the showpiece final. The game was only two minutes old when she sprinted clear for her first try to set the tone for the match.
Isabelle Thomas was also a big influence for the winners, contributing 17 points in a dominant display. As well as spreading the ball wide at every opportunity, Bro Dur weren’t afraid to take the hard yards where props Lotti O’Sullivan and Zara James excelled with their fearless ball carrying.
Erin Jones and Nel scored tries for Dyffryn Conwy in the first half but with Walker-Hunt scoring a second and winger Millie Davies-Hookings racing over for a double in quick succession, Bro Dur were 31-10 ahead at the break and fully in control.
With young Thomas pulling the strings expertly at fly half, Bro Dur were constantly on the front foot in the second half and scored five more tries with Walker-Hunt collecting two more.
O’Sullivan and Thomas dotted down in the second half before Becca Griffiths replied for Dyffryn Conwy with two of her own, but a converted try by Tallulah Knoyle ensured Bro Dur secured the honours.

Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive’s speed and elusiveness proved too much for Ysgol Dyffryn Taff in the Girls Schools U14 Final at Rodney Parade in the Gocompare Road to Principality 2026 series.
The final scoreline of 34-17 in Bryn Celynnog’s favour doesn’t do justice to Ysgol Dyffryn Taf who fought all the way until the final whistle but the victors always seemed to have a little extra juice in the tank to get over the line.
The two teams traded early tries before impressive fly half Lola Davies converted her own try before Sophie Letman added to their tally.
Ysgol Dyffryn Taf right winger Izzie Rohzonn reduced the arrears but speedster Maize Carrington carved open the defence to score for Davies to add another conversion. Dynamic No 8 Emie George then powered over before Sophie Letman sprinted clear to put daylight between the two teams.
A late forward surge saw Ysgol Dyffryn Taf have the final say when the forwards rumbled over under a pile of bodies.

Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr had to withstand a second half revival from Haverfordwest High School before prevailing 33-24 in the Girls Schools U12 final at Rodney Parade in the Gocompare Road to Principality 2026 series.
Plasmawr were in total command at the break, leading 21-0 with Amelia Hughes and Indeg Cassidy crossing for tries with Hughes’ second effort a length of the field gem. With Lilly Le-Sauteur bringing her kicking boots, she successfully added three conversions to leave Haverfordwest facing a mountain to climb in the second spell.
But the Pembrokeshire side rolled their sleeves up in the second half. In the first spell they ran sideways with ball in hand which made Plasmawr’s defensive job easy but in the second half they ran straight and hard to put Plasmawr under pressure.
Evie Lewis made a dazzling run down the touchline before scoring Haverfordwest’s first try and Chloe Kplomedo soon followed.
Plasmawr increased their lead through Anest Goram but Lewis hit back with another converted try to keep Haverfordwest in the game.
However Plasmawr hit straight back with a fine finish by Halle Goram but Haverfordwest had the final say when Freya Harries finished with aplomb
