Llandaff North get their hands back on the WRU Women's Cup

Llandaff North skipper Cerys Sweetman on the charge

Llandaff North enjoyed a return to the Principality Stadium with a 29-14 win over Bonymaen in the ‘Go Compare Road to Principality 2026’ Women’s Cup Final.

After missing out on the final in 2025 following a semi-final defeat to Bonymaen, Llandaff North cruised their way to a third win of the season against Bony with tries from Sophie Peters, Anna Stowell, Niamh Tinman and Elin Hopkins.

Beaten by Bony at the semi-final stage in last year’s tournament it was sweet revenge to add to the league double they had already registered over their rivals in the WRU Premiership.

The North opened the scoring after only five minutes when centre Hopkins charged down a kick before kicking ahead to enable her midfield partner Peters to regather and score. The try was converted by fly-half Claudia Meyrick-Ward.

Bony were then caught offside following a goal line drop out, which allowed Meyrick-Ward to kick a penalty to stretch the lead to 10 points in the 16th minute.

With dominance at the set-piece, North took the ball against the head in the 33rd minute on the Bony five metre line and with space out wide, wing Stowell went over unopposed in the corner.

The Welsh capital club started the second in similar fashion to the first as scrumhalf Tinman broke through the defensive line to score in the 47th minute after beating two defenders.

There was something for Bonymaen supporters to cheer about on the hour mark as replacement Tyler Tipene fended off two tacklers to score. Her try was converted by centre Charlie Manns.

But the North added a fourth try to make victory secure as scrum half Tinman broke in midfield to start the attack that allowed Peters to offload to Hopkins, who scored at the posts before converting her own try.

Bony had the final say in the 76th minute as Manns was at the end of team try with the ball going through multiple pair of hands. She converted her own try herself, but it only came as a consolation.
