Wales head coach Sean Lynn has named the Wales side to face Australia in the first of two Tests on the tour of Australia at Ballymore Stadium, Queensland on Saturday, July 26 (KO: 5am BST).
Backrower Alex Callender will captain the side, while fellow co-captain Kate Williams is rested for the clash with the Wallaroos.
Hooker Kelsey Jones will pass a personal milestone and win her 50th cap for her country down under while prop Sisilia Tuipulotu returns on the bench in her first game back after missing the recent 2025 Women’s six Nations campaign.
Lynn has selected three new caps, scrum half Seren Lockwood, prop Katherine Baverstock and lock Tilly Vucaj, who will all make their Wales debuts off the bench.
Wales will field a matchday squad with six players aged 21 or under in Wales’ penultimate Test match before Rugby World Cup 2025 kicks-off in England.
Hooker Jones packs down with prop Maisie Davies, 19, and experienced prop Donna Rose in the Wales front row.
Lock Alaw Pyrs, 19, is selected in the Wales engine room by Gwen Crabb, while skipper Callender is joined in the Wales backrow alongside, Georgia Evans and Bethan Lewis.
Scrum half Keira Bevan partners fly half Lleucu George at half-back, while Hannah Dallavalle, [née Jones], partners Courtney Keight in the centre.
Nel Metcalfe, 20, is at full back and Jasmine Joyce and Lisa Neumann are named on the wings.
Wales travel to Sydney to face Australia for the second Test at North Sydney Oval on Friday, August 1.
Lynn, said: “This is an exciting Wales side, and we are looking forward to measuring ourselves against Wallaroos side fresh from a Test match against the Black Ferns.
“Australia are ranked sixth the world rankings and will be a stern test but the whole squad have worked hard during pre-season and now it’s time to show that on the field.
“Kelsey Jones wins her 50th Cap for Wales and I know what that achievement means to her and her family. Having Sisilia Tuipulotu back is a major boost and a credit to her and all the staff in getting her back fit to play after missing the Six Nations.
“Seren Lockwood, Katherine Baverstock and Tilly Vucaj fully deserve their selection and have impressed us all the players, coaches and staff and we are excited to see them pull on the famous red jersey.
“To have six players aged 21 or under named in the matchday squad shows the talent we have coming through in Wales and this selection is an exciting one with the 2025 Rugby World Cup on the horizon.”
