Hudd making his mark in Super Rygbi Cymru

Lloyd has been an ever present near the top of the points table all season, but his lead has been decimated with RGC’s Billy McBryde now a single point behind the Steelman while Pontypool’s Kieran Meek (104 points) is the only other player to have reached triple figures after the completion of 13 rounds.

Lloyd’s teammate Joe Franchi has joined Cardiff’s Dewi Cross at the top of the try scoring charts with nine tries with Carmarthen Quins hooker Lewis Morgan currently in third spot with eight tries.

Cardiff’s young backline has been ripping it up this season with the likes of Harri Wilde, Tom Bowen, Elija Evans and Kodie Stone earning plenty of plaudits out wide but they wouldn’t have been able to show off their finishing power without the support of their teammates in the engine room.

Second row Craig Hudd, alongside skipper Sean Moore, has put in plenty of graft with and without the ball to keeo his side on the front foot. The big lock has managed to keep momentum going on plenty of occasions for the Blue & Blacks, off-loading the ball in contact 28 times. Llandovery’s Ioan Hughes is next cab off the rank with 21 off-loads in contact.

Hudd has also proved more than useful in the nitty gritty of the physical stuff. He has joined Pontypool’s Scott Matthews as the leading turnover specialist with 28 scalps next to his name. Pontypool’s Mike Herbert has snaffled 19 turnovers to find himself third in the pecking order.

Hudd has also made an impact elsehwere, being involved in 208 rucks to sit behind Bridgend’s Zach O’Driscoll (254) and Llandovery’s Osian Davies (252) in third place on the rucks section.
