“Our sole focus this week is on producing a performance that represents us as a group and represents what we stand for.
“We will work on every aspect of the game this week, from how we start the game, the middle part of our performance and how we finish. We want to produce much more of a consistent performance from whistle to whistle.”
Abrahams believes there are key lessons to take from Wales’ opening exchanges in the defeats to both France and Ireland this month.
“The way we started both games was not good enough and we have looked at the reasons for that, we will change a couple of things this week to make sure we approach the game with more intent and purpose. If we get our start right we can build our innings appropriately to make sure we can see the game though consistently. We have to be on the front foot early on in order to give ourselves the opportunity to play the way we want to play.
“Italy brought a classic Italian performance against Scotland, they just kept going and didn’t really give Scotland a chance to put their stamp on the game. I think it will be a pretty competitive fixture for us on Saturday. It’s not about any unfinished business from last season. In these times, you have to take every opportunity you get and we have the chance to play another Six Nations match. It’s in our hands now to transform our situation. That’s the only way we can look at it.”
