Wayne Pivac’s side sealed a Triple Crown in round three with a 40-24 victory over England. It followed back-to-back wins against Ireland and Scotland.

Now it is Italy up next.

“From a players’ point of view Italy are tough to play against,” said flanker Tipuric.

“That’s especially the case playing them away. When you play them in the forwards, in the line-out, at scrum time and around the rucks, you always know you’re in for a tough, physical game.

“That’s the way they are. They are passionate, when they get a sniff into the game, you know you’re in for a long day.

“They are probably trying to play a bit more rugby every now and again and are in the middle of finding the way they want to play.

“Their strength is obviously their pack.

“If we can get into the game in that way, it gives us a bit of front foot. If we don’t have the front foot, we’re going to be struggling to do a few of the moves we have planned.

“The first thing is to get on the front foot and they’ve obviously got a few big guys so we need to be sensible and work on things to get them moving.”

Tipuric has been on fire in the Six Nations to date.

He is the Championship’s top tackler with 55 and is joined in the top five by team-mates Taulupe Faletau (53), Alun Wyn Jones (49) and Tomas Francis (41).

“If you take your eye off the ball mistakes are made. That’s the way we’ve always been and hopefully continue to be,” said a grounded Tipuric.

“It’s probably a little bit easier with experience, but I’ve always been one to take it one game at a time because you never know what can happen in that game.

“It can be a win or loss, injuries, or anything. If you’ve been in our game long enough, anything can happen.

“I think it all comes down to that one game and putting all your attention into it because the second game doesn’t matter if that one game doesn’t go well.”
