The Dragons slipped to defeat in Connacht in their opening round tie last weekend and will want to bounce back with a victory.

Back row Benjamin has been out of action since suffering a neck injury in February but has been selected to make his first start by head coach Luke Narraway.

“Munster always come with a rich pedigree and they have always played the game a certain way,” said Narraway.

“They play the Munster way and that is being physical, they like to squeeze and pressurise teams. Obviously they can really play as well, but that is their foundation.

“We know we need to stand up to that, we need to try and impose ourselves and take that away from them.

“I hope the Rodney Parade factor inspires us too,” he added. “Most of these players are born within a stone’s throw of Newport and are extremely proud to represent the Dragons.

“They are looking forward to getting out at home and righting some wrongs from the Connacht game.”

Cardiff Blues A will be looking to right the wrongs of a 47-28 defeat to Leinster A last weekend. Gethin Jenkins’ side travel to Belfast to face Ulster A looking to improve on last Saturday’s showing.

“We’re expecting Ulster to be another good side but we want to focus more on our game and what we can do,” said Cardiff Blues A centre Sam Beard.

“We know what we need to put right and that’s been our focus in training this week. We know that we need to be better this week because it was a bit of a rusty first performance.

“We probably need to hold onto the ball a bit longer during the first half, not try to force it too much and finish the game off in a similar way.”

Down west the Scarlets A side suffered a last gasp defeat at the hands of Ulster A in Llandovery last Saturday. But despite a narrow loss head coach Richard Kelly insists there were plenty of positives to take out of it and is looking forward to righting some wrongs against Leinster A this weekend.

“I was disappointed mainly for the players that we lost last weekend in terms of the shift they put in,” said Kelly.

“Ulster I thought were excellent and they took their opportunities in the end and put a lot of pressure on us and there is no disagreement in terms of the end result. But there were plenty of positives to take out of it and plenty of players showed they have a big future in the game.

“We’re looking forward to putting this right this weekend.”

A young Ospreys side produced the best result of round one as they recorded a 20-20 draw with Munster A in Cork.

This Saturday they welcome Connacht Eagles to the Morganstone Brewery Field and will be confident of claiming their first win of the competition if they can reproduce a similar quality of performance.
