The South African born centre who joined the North Wales side ahead of the 2014/15 season has caused problems for many opposition sides in RGC’s Principality Premiership campaign along with their title winning Cup run.

This was Loots’ third season with RGC after spending two seasons in the Championship and helping them to achieve promotion last year.

The former Leopards U19 and U21 player is pleased with the success his team has enjoyed this season.

“We didn’t expect to do so well this season but once the season started well, we aimed for the League final. That wasn’t to be but winning the Cup was one of the highlights of my career so far especially coming from only just qualifying for the Principality Premiership.

“Winning some silverware means so much, especially for a lot of the boys who have been there from the start. It brings belief that we can do it and that we belong here.

Loots played a few games for the Western Province emerging side before getting a call from Rupert Moon. The rest, as they say, is history and Loots has no regrets.

“We had good coaches prior to this season and then Mark (Jones) has come in and helped loads especially with the backline, he’s developed my skills so much, he’s very involved with us players and is a good motivator.

“It’s been a good three years, I’ll be qualified for Wales in September and if the opportunity is there I’d love to go as far as I can here. My aim is to get as far as I can in my rugby career.”

Tiaan is looking forward to tomorrow night’s game against Wales at Parc Eirias.

“We’re all very excited to be playing against Wales. It will be good to see how far we’ve come and help them prepare for their tour.”

Heather Thomas, customer consultant at Principality Llandudno branch of Principality, said: “Like the rest of the RGC team, Tiaan has had an amazing season in the Premiership top scoring with 14 tries. Hopefully the team can go all the way next season after reaching the semi-finals this year. They have put North Wales on the rugby map and we are very proud of what they have achieved. ”
