At stake for the two teams is a place alongside reigning champions Coleg y Cymoedd, last season’s runners-up Coleg Sir Gar, Gower College, Cowbridge CS, Cardiff & Vale College and Pembrokeshire Schools in the Cup competition. If Whitchurch HS make the grade they will be the fourth side from the Cardiff Blues area to qualify for the top seven.
Coleg Gwent, who played in the top tier last season, kicked-off their campaign with a 26-10 defeat against
Pembrokeshire Colleges before beating Llandovery College 51-19 to qualify for the play-off. Whitchurch, meanwhile, easily beat Bridgend College 44-6, but were then taught a lesson at home by Cowbridge CS in a 29-3 defeat.
Whoever wins the game will have home advantage over Cowbridge CS in the first round of the Cup competition, while the losers will start in the Trophy tournament at home against Glantaf.
