However, despite putting up an encouraging display, the Ospreys left victorious 14-7.

The Ospreys began the match looking to continue their good form after a convincing victory over the Blues in the previous round.

DFP – Leaderboard

The game was a lively affair with both sides looking to attack and express themselves. Conditions on the artificial surface were superb and this provided a platform for an outstanding game.

Both sides had chances early on, but strong defensive press keeping the score 0-0 until the deadlock was broken by the Ospreys Rhian Noakes on the 25th minute. The 7s international went in from 20 meters out after a smart offload in the tackle by her centre partner Kerin Lake. The cultured boot of Robyn Wilkins slotted the conversation and took the score to 0-7.

After a number of penalties either side, Ospreys’ Mel Clay was sent to the bin on the 30th minute. The Dragons spurned the opportunity for points with Amy Day looking to get the Dragons on the front foot with quick penalties throughout the game. Both front rows were tireless around the park at breakdown and carrying, with the scrum being a real battle as well. The back row units of both sides had a number of turn overs.

The Dragons came out for the second half looking to get on the score sheet after failing to capitalize while Clay was in the bin. On the 55th minute mark the Dragons got on the score sheet with a great team try, good carries from the forwards, with backs and forwards linking well to put Gemma Rowlands in who converted her own try.
A missed tackle in midfield gave Adi Taviner the opportunity to sail through the Dragons defence untouched to take the Ospreys into the lead. Wilkins converted.

Both sides had opportunities to score later in the game, but defences were strong throughout the encounter and kept the score to 7-14.
