After a dominant performance by the Bargoed pack in the first half Swansea trailed 17-6 at the break, and the pressure showed as the referee was forced to call uncontested scrums for the second half due to a Swansea front row injury.

Despite a scrappy second period, Bargoed were able to add a further 10 points to their tally and a bonus point try with the last play of the game from outside half Josh Prosser.

Prosser converted his try to bring his point haul to 12, with tries from wing Lewis Protheroe, lock Geraint Edmunds, and flanker Steffan Jouxson contributing. Swansea failed to add to Nicky Thomas’s two first half penalties penalties.

Newbridge can be proud of their performance at home to Merthyr as they pushed the Ironmen all the way in an entertaining game at the Welfare Ground. Although they trailed Merthyr 10-0 at the half-time break, Newbridge came back strongly in the second period with three successful penalties from the boot of Connor Goode, but Merthyr were too strong and a try from Harri Millard sealed the win 15-9 for the visitors.

Two tries from Llanharan’s Rory Martin-Smith almost sealed a famous victory against Cardiff Met, but two tries from Pier Tucker and four penalties and a conversion from the boot of Owen Thomas, were enough to seal a 19-18 home win for the students.

Despite scoring 24 points in the second half it still wasn’t enough for Blackwood to take the spoils at home against Narberth as The Otters won 41-30. Tries from Steve Martin, Rhys Lane and Gareth Bateman set Narberth up for a well-deserved victory, and the faithful boot of Ianto Griffiths ensured the win as he slotted three conversions and a penalty.

Outside half Jack O’Reilly nailed six penalties and converted the try of Jordan Griffiths as Glynneath beat Tondu at home 25-21 in a thrilling relegation battle.

There was almost an upset at the Newbridge Fields as high-flying Pontypool were almost beaten by mid-table Bridgend Athletic. However, a try from Nathan Brooke as well as a try and two penalties from Dan Haile sealed the 16-13 victory for Pontypool.

Two tries from wing Kris Corbisiero helped TATA Steel defeat RGC 1404 20-13 in an open and exciting game. Both tries were converted by outside half Steve Lewis, who also slotted two penalties.

The North Walians were unfortunate to come away with nothing as wing Richard Hopkins scored a try, which outside half Rhodri Carlton-Jones was able to convert and add two penalties.
