Narberth win through Gale force

NIck Gale turned into a home town hero as he snatched victory for Narberth with the last kick of the game to give his side a precious 6=5 win over Newbridge.

Victory enabled Narberth to hold onto second place in the SWALEC Championship, although they only led 3-0 going into the final five minutes. Then a late Newbridge try looked to have sealed the win for the visitors before Gale stepped up to the mark to seal a dramatic victory for the Otters.

Ebbw Vale extended their lead at the top of the Championship to 12 points and made sure their 100% record remained intact, after running out 34-3 winners against Tata Steel.The Steelmen opened up a commanding lead through tries either side of half time from Jordan Howells before Chris Thomas, Ronny Kynes and Joe Bartlett put the game to bed.

 

Bargoed registered an impressive 32-13 win over in-form Llanharan at Bargoed Park. The hosts led 13-3 at half time through tries from Lewis Protharoe and Luke Smalley. The Dairymen came back into it in the second half, Tom Farr Evans and Will Singer getting on the scoresheet. Bargoed sealed the win with tries from Geraint Edmunds and Rhys Morgan before a late penalty try rounded off the win.

 

Pontypool got back on track with a 20-25 victory in a close contest away at Blackwood. The home side led 13-7 at half time thanks to a try from Sean Higgins and the trusty boot of Sam Withers, Tom Organ scoring for the Poolers. Pontypool responded well in the second half and tries from Steve Taylor and Matt Thomas combined with 10 points from the reliable Clayton Gullif gave the visitors a narrow victory.

 

RGC1404 continued their ascent of the Championship table after beating Beddau 10-9. A Tom Blackwell try was cancelled out by three Rhys Morgan penalties to leave RGC1404 trailing 5-9 at the break. Tom Blackwell wasn’t to be denied and his second half score gave the hosts a narrow victory.

 

Bridgend Athletic ran out 24-0 winners away at bottom of the table Bonymaen at Parc Mawr. The host’s woeful run of form continued as they failed to get a foothold in the game.
