All four regions will be in action in a RaboDirect PRO12 double-header at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
More than 30,000 supporters are expected at the home of Welsh rugby and Evans reckons the event can become an high-profile annual affair.
“It reminds me of the old Welsh cup finals, and I hope it becomes something like that,” said Evans.
“From what I hear we are expecting about 40,000 (fans) which reminds me of going back to those days as a young kid with everybody from different clubs.
“I was in the stand watching that, and hopefully on the day it will be the same atmosphere.
“Hopefully it will become a great tradition in the Welsh game, especially with the derbies and I’m glad it’s happened now.”
There will be plenty riding on the Ospreys clash with Cardiff Blues in the race for the PRO12 play-offs.
The Swansea-based region are currently fourth in the league table but level on points with west Wales rivals the Scarlets.
Evans admits, with four games left, it is make or break but he reckons the Ospreys have the big game experience to reach the knockout stages.
“The points will be very valuable especially when you come to the end of the season and aim for a top four finish, it’s going to be very clinical,” added Evans.
“The bonus points are obviously an important bonus.
“You’ve got to get a good lead and fully focus on that and if you’ve got enough time then you can focus on actually trying to get that bonus point, but yeah at the end of the season that could come back to bite us on the backside.
“We just have to concentrate on the end of the season, which is just four games left to do and get four victories and take advantage over some big teams.
“The Ospreys know what is needed of us especially at this time of the season and hopefully we can come in to the top four.
“The Scarlets obviously must feel the pressure of it now and they claim they’ve got an easier run in, but they’ve got to try and get as much as possible from the four games.
“Leinster last game of the season, we will need the win, they’ll be looking for revenge.
“But we take one game at a time and are concentrating on the Blues, get that win they we can move on to the next one. We are in the fourth spot and we want to progress on that.”
There will be a number of mouth-watering showdowns in the Cardiff clash and the match-up between Sam Warburton and Justin Tipuric has dominated the column inches.
But there will be another reunion on display with Blues’ new-signing Filo Paulo returning to the Millennium Stadium.
The powerful second-row crocked both Dan Biggar and Richard Hibbard with thunderous hits during Wales’ autumn loss to Samoa.
Evans expects another physical challenge but it is something he says the region will relish.
“He left five about five stitches in Dan Biggar’s head and he caught Richard Hibbard with a heavy hit as well,” recalled Evans
“He’s obviously a very physical guy. We watched him against Treviso last week. He’s bolstered the Blues’ pack a bit.
“But we are not daunted about facing him. Our pack has stood firm this season, so we’ll relish that kind of confrontation.
“We will respect not just him but the whole Blues team. From our pack’s point of view, we’ve been working together well this season. I don’t think we’ll be daunted.
“We’ll be pretty confident we can get the upper hand there, whether against him or anyone else.”
