Danny Wilson’s men kick-off their campaign against Ireland in Colwyn Bay on February 1.
They won two of their three fixtures at Eirias last season and the Llandovery and Scarlets scrum-half reckons the home crowd can give Wales the edge once more.
“We’re really looking forward to the Ireland game at home. We have great, record-breaking support in Colwyn Bay and want to turn Eirias into a real fortress,” said Williams.
“Last year we weren’t sure about going up there. Obviously it’s a long way to go but the support we had was tremendous.
“The facilities, the changing rooms, the pitch, and atmosphere just lifted us. There’s a running track around the pitch but during a game it’s as if it isn’t there. The support seems so close – they are just superb.
“We have had some good performances up there and put that down to the crowd giving us an extra 10 per cent.”
Wales built upon last season’s Six Nations at the IRB Junior World Championship, where they finished a best ever third. And Williams insists it is essential to continue their progress, beginning with the visit of Ireland.
“We have to back up what the boys achieved in South Africa,” added Williams. “We will put our best efforts into the Six Nations while building into the next World Cup.
“This is key to our development and we need to put in a good performance. We have a good squad with a lot of leaders. Our skill levels are up there with the best and we have a good chance in the Championship.
“Our back-line is the best at our age-level. Our skill levels are high enough and if we can get a good platform up front I don’t see why we can’t mix it with anyone in the world.
“Ireland are a good side. We lost last year to them but we have to keep our home record.”
Tickets for the Wales Under 20 internationals at Eirias are £15 for reserved seating and £10 (adults) and £5 (concessions) in the terrace and with last season’s games all selling out well in advance of matchday, supporters are urged to act quickly to avoid disappointment.
