Ospreys boss Steve Tandy is remaining positive despite a disappointing start to the new season.

The reigning RaboDirect PRO12 Champions have lost their two opening games of the campaign, firstly falling to a surprise reverse away to Treviso and then being beaten at home by Ulster on Saturday night.

But while it doesn’t constitute the start Tandy was looking for, both defeats were narrow affairs and the former flanker therefore sees no reason to panic ahead of Friday’s clash with Glasgow at the Liberty Stadium.

“Losing the first two games doesn’t sit well but we won the championship last year after coming through a sticky patch and it’s just something we have to take on,” said Tandy.

“The boys are in a good place. We know we’re coming on the back of two defeats but I don’t feel we deserved two defeats. We should have seen those games out.

“We’ve had a short turn around, the boys have trained well and we hope to put things right.”

The Ospreys were stunned by a late Paul Marshall try against Ulster after their backline failed to fire in Swansea.

Tandy admits continuity and execution are areas his men need to work on this week, especially as they face a Glasgow team renowned for a strong defence, even if the Warriors are also without a win this season.

“We’ve looked at it (execution) for hours and it’s something we’re keen to put right,” added Tandy.

“Some of the things we’re trying to integrate from the training field didn’t quite work. We turned over 22 out of 45 phase plays and if you do that you will always struggle to gain momentum.

“Glasgow are a tough team. They’ve also lost their first two games but they’re a really competitive team and last season their defence was outstanding.”
