The Ospreys were staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat at halftime, behind 22-6 on the scoreboard but a second half blitz saw them eventually prevail 32-29. The Eyassess rallied in the second half to race over for four tries with outside-half Luke Price adding 12 points with his boot.

Both Eyasses centres, Martyn Davies and Joe Thomas, grabbed a try each while winger, Jordan Adderley and fullback, Lewis Evans finished in opposite corners.

The Blues gathered their lineout in an attacking position and  went through the phases and managed to create quick ball before sending James Whittingham over in the corner in the 10th minute.

Price slotted a penalty to reduce the arrears before Blues South caught the Ospreys napping, taking a quick penalty for Rory Bartle to eventually plough over.
Tyler Williams then finished expertly to put Blues South firmly in control. Price gave the Ospreys hope just before the break with a neat drop goal.

However Blues raced out of the blocks first to set up Williams for his second try of the night. At this stage the Ospreys must have feared the worst, but somehow they hauled themselves back into the match with Evans touching down.

The pendulum was starting to swing in the Eyasses favour as they begun to go through the phases and build up some momentum.

Davies  cut through the defence at a strong angle to score a well taken try before Thomas waltzed his way over with a dazzling solo effort. Adderley squeezed over in the corner to put his side in the lead for the first time in the game. Price slotted a brilliant touchline conversion to provide his team with a three point lead.

The Eyasses fought valiantly and managed to hold on to the lead to secure a memorable victory, the Eyasses fifth U16 Championship win in eight seasons.

The Eyasses Backs Coach, Keith Hopkins, said: “The second half performance was immense. We tried to take the pressure off the boys by saying that regardless of the end result, we wanted a performance to be proud of. We’re already proud of them, as coaches we’ve seen them grow throughout the season. All we wanted them to do was do themselves justice, and that’s what they did.”
