Venues announced for Konica Minolta semi-finals

Llandovery face Llanelli at Talbot Athletic Ground, Aberavon, in the first of two all Principality Premiership clashes at 6.05pm on the Saturday (14th). This is followed by an East Wales meeting between Cardiff and Bridgend at Sardis Road, Pontypridd, a day later (kick-off 4.40pm).

Both games will also appear live on S4C as the best of East and West Wales battle for a place in the Konica Minolta Cup Final: a Millennium Stadium showdown on Saturday April 28th (kick-off 5.30pm).

Cardiff are favourites for some to lift the Cup, after an impressive 39-8 victory over Swansea in the quarter-finals and as the highest placed Premiership side, but they must get past close rivals Bridgend at the neutral, but intimidating, world renowned ‘house-of-pain’.

Then the Millennium Stadium final would loom and a meeting with Llanelli, who themselves knocked out Cup holders Pontypridd in the last round, or Llandovery.

Llandovery first take Llanelli to the home of the Wizards, the ground where a young James Hook cut his rugby teeth as a ball boy, and the Drovers, who are the Principality Premiership’s basement club, will be looking for some Hook-like magic in order to claim victory.

“The Principality Premiership and Asda League teams have produced some fascinating rugby in the Konica Minolta Cup this season. Bridgend, Cardiff, Llandovery and Llanelli have risen to the top of the pile to put themselves eighty minutes away from the Millennium Stadium final,” said WRU Group Chief Executive Roger Lewis.

“We have the potential for a record Premiership crowd at the Millennium Stadium on the 28th of April with an inevitable East versus West clash at our iconic national ground.

“All four teams will be buoyed by that prospect and the chance to claim the coveted Konica Minolta Cup for their trophy cabinets, which all adds up to an exciting weekend of rugby to look forward to in Pontypridd and Aberavon.”

Tickets for the Konica Minolta Cup Final at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday April 28th will be available within 24 hours of the finalists becoming known from the WRU ticket hotline: 08705 582 582
