Williams praises young fly-half

Williams scored the injury time try that gave Hook the opportunity to kick a conversion to win their Round 1 match against Sale Sharks, and says his team mate showed real bottle to slot his shot through the uprights.

But the Wales wing admitted he could not watch as Hook  – who won two Wales cap against Argentina in the summer – stepped up to convert his amazing 87th minute try.
He said: “For Hook to step up and take a pressure kick like that in his first season of Heineken Cup rugby shows just what a talent he is.

“But the whole team showed real guts and determination to pull that win out of the bag – other teams would have given up but we just kept going.

“We beat one of the best teams in Europe and didn’t even play very well – it’s not often you can say that.

“This win gives us great momentum for the rest of the competition but there’s at least another 25 per cent to come from us.

But he has his eyes firmly set on Stade Francais this weekend after downing the English champions.

“We will need to make that improvement against Stade Francais in Paris. That’s a huge task in itself.”
