WRU BOARD CALL SGM

Concern was expressed by the members during our recent Redzone Roadshow regarding the position of a Group Chief Executive.

The clubs were already aware it was the Board’s intention to debate this issue fully and openly at the AGM in September. It is still the Union’s intention to propose an alteration to Article 47 of the constitution at the AGM.

However, following the concerns expressed by the clubs during the Roadshows, the Board of Directors has decided to call an SGM to debate the issue fully. This debate will bring the matter to a head and a resolution will follow.

David Pickering, WRU Board chairman, has today instructed the WRU chief executive Steve Lewis to issue the appropriate documentation to the 245 member clubs and Affiliated Organisations to set-up the meeting at the Millennium Stadium at 1.00pm on Sunday, 23 April.

This meeting in no way infringes or countermands the clubs’ rights to call for an EGM in their own right if they still wish to.
