ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING

Following on from the huge success of the Tsunami concert where the Millennium Stadium stunned the music world by putting on a 60 000 sell-out concert in the space of a fortnight, Stadium organisers are continuing to make new ground in the world of entertainments.

The Bootleg Beatles, Bjorn Again and Kraig Parker and the Royal Tribute Band are well-renowned as the world’s most successful and long-running tribute shows of the Beatles, Abba and Elvis Presley respectively. All three acts will perform under the roof of the Millennium Stadium in a four-hour concert kicking off at 6.30pm.

The show will take place in the main Stadium bowl but with a brand new stage configuration, with a side-on stage situated directly over the players’ tunnel.

Stadium general manager Paul Sergeant said, “This is a hugely exciting new venture for us. We are always delighted to explore new avenues with regards to staging concerts and events. We are once again working closely with Pablo Janzcur and Push 4 who worked so hard with us on the production of the Tsunami Relief Cardiff concert.

“This comes at an exciting time for the Stadium as we prepare for a summer of world-class music events with REM and U2 performing here in June and July and with further announcements to follow.”

The Stadium’s reputation as one of Europe’s premier live entertainment venues will be further enhanced with the forthcoming arrival of the planned acoustic curtain which will turn the Stadium’s bowl into a versatile arena capable of meeting the demands of all kinds of concerts and arena events.

Sergeant continued, “The Tribute concert will be a great event to show how we can not only stage sell-out events filling the entire main bowl but that smaller events and concerts can be just as successful and enjoyable here as we prepare to install the Acoustic Curtain which will transform our ability to stage events.”

Tickets for the Tribute to Music’s Legends are £12 for General Admission tickets and £16 for reserved seating. They are on sale from 9am today (Saturday) through Ticketmaster on 08705 582 582 and via http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/ or to personal callers from the Millennium Stadium Ticket Shop, 98 St Mary Street.
