DRAGONS ROAR AT JUNIOR SEVENS

Eight teams took part in the U13 competition, with the Dragons from Ogmore School eventually beating Neath Athletic RFC by 8-1 in the final. This is a huge achievement for a team that only began playing in the autumn.

At U16 level, ten sides battled out for the coveted trophy. The only North Wales entrant in the tournament, Nant Conwy RFC, took the title in a 26-5 defeat of Llandaff North A. Both sides came into the final undefeated, having both achieved some convincing wins in the pool stages.

Bridgend Athletic RFC secured two wins out of two against Llandaff North RFC to secure their place as winners of the U19 competition. Jilly Holroyd, WWRU Manager, Women and Girls’ Rugby said:

“The strength of every squad in the competition reflects that there are many talented players in schools and clubs throughout Wales. Tournaments such as this will play a key part in the development of the game”.
