SERGEANT WARNS OF TICKET SCAM

SERGEANT WARNS OF TICKET SCAM

Sergeant has already had reports of more than 150 stolen tickets and he is worried that they could find their way onto the black market and be sold on for hundreds of pounds.

“We already know of more than 150 stolen tickets that are in circulation and fans need to be aware that if they are offered the chance to buy a ticket from an unofficial source, or are asked to pay above the face value of the ticket, then they are likely to be dealing with stolen goods,” said Sergeant. “We have all the details of the stolen tickets and anyone attempting to enter the stadium with one of these tickets will be denied entry or be referred to South Wales Police. They will not get to see the game. Should they manage to gain entry, they will be ejected and handed over to the police.

“All the tickets were sold well in advance of the game and any tickets surfacing at this stage are likely to have fallen into the wrong hands. I would strongly recommend that anyone who does not have a ticket for the game on Saturday should make plans to watch on TV and not fall victim to a ticket tout.

“The WRU and the Millennium Stadium abhor the policy of people selling on tickets for profit. It contravenes the regulations under which the tickets are initially bought and can lead to people being denied entry.

“Already in the build-up to this game we have forced one debenture holder to surrender tickets after offering them to the highest bidder on e-bay. The WRU will not tolerate such behaviour and wishes all tickets to be sold to genuine rugby fans at face value.”

With another capacity crowd heading to the Welsh capital, Sergeant is also concerned that fans arrive early enough to join in the community singing ahead of the game. The Welsh singing trio of Bryn Terfel, Aled Jones and Katherine Jenkins will be leading the national anthem and Jason Howard will also be involved in the pre-match build-up.

“The atmosphere at the Autumn International matches was absolutely fantastic and Mike Ruddock and his players commented on how much the support from the fans meant to them,” said Sergeant. “We want to try to recreate the atmosphere and intensity that we all witnessed before the game against New Zealand. To do that we need as many Welsh fans as possible inside the stadium during the team warm-up which starts at 16.40.

“The gates open at 3.30pm, there are 17 bars that can cater for up to 20,000 drinkers and there will be plenty to do and see. The players will be coming out for their warm-up about an hour before the game kicks-off and then they will be officially entering the field of play at 5.25pm.”
