DIVISION TWO
Ystrad Rhondda and Newport Saracens are still neck and neck in the East and their meeting at Ystrad next Saturday should be a key to the title. Both clubs gained weekend wins – Sarries over Croesyceiliog and Ystrad at Treherbert. Merthyr had a superb 32-0 win at Abercynon; Brynithel were 48-0 winners at bottom club Risca and Treorchy had a hard-earned win over Hirwaun.
In the West, leaders Waunarlwydd won a rearranged game home to Mumbles; Corus had a try by flanker-turned-wing Matthew Bradley in an 8-6 success at Felinfoel and Dunvant gained the points by 27-10 at Pencoed.
DIVISION THREE
Only two clubs in the four sections remain unbeaten after West leaders Loughor crashed 15-11 at Aberystwyth, while Bargoed could only draw 6-6 at Abergavenny in the East, but retained their record of not losing a league match in just over two seasons. Gorseinon failed to take advantage of Loughor’s loss as they were held 7-7 at Trimsaran, while Pill Harriers did make up ground on Bargoed with a crushing 38-0 win away to Old Illtydians. Mountain Ash and Rhydyfelin battled on in the South-East with the Old Firm held to a narrow 24-18 win over battling Brecon and Rhydyfelin retaining their 100% record with a 54-0 win at Penygraig. Ruthin hold third place after a good win at Pentyrch and saw that Gilfach Goch had fallen at Ynysybwl. South-West leaders Maesteg Quins had a good win at Kenfig Hill by 32-0 and lead Alltwen and Seven Sisters by three points, though both were winners and Kenfig’s loss put them six points behind the Quins.
DIVISION FOUR
The last unbeaten club in Division Four lost the tag on Saturday as Fairwater fell by 25-11 and 3-1 on tries at Penarth in the South-East. The Seasiders, or The Boys from Donkey Island, as some still call them, are third and Aberdare remain second after defeating Taffs Well. Resolven and Tonna are still battling out the South-West title as both gained away victories to pull well way from the remainder of that section, while in the West, Amman Utd returned to form by winning at Betws and are ahead of Laugharne, while Neyland fell 10-0 at Pontarddulais. North leaders Llangefni thrashed Caernarfon 67-6 while Mold hold on after surviving by 10-5 at Newtown and Colwyn Bay thumped Rhyl 35-0. Pontllanfraith head the East and had a crushing win at St Peter’s, though Crumlin gained a 20-7 victory at Oakdale and Trinant won at Ynysddu.
DIVISION FIVE
Nantyglo’s fifteenth successive win – 15-9 over Garndiffaith – took them 12 points ahead in the East and Abercrave beat Neath Athletic 39-5 to lead the South-West by seven points. South Wales Police crashed at Cefn Coed in the South-West in a tight section, where Porth and Penallta both won, but meet on Saturday, while Cilfynydd gained the points away to Bridgend Sports. Pembroke beat St Clears 41-0 in the West to lead New Dock Stars, who defeated Aberaeron 14-6, by three points and Llangwm were without a match in third spot.
