Chester sportingly played ten a side against them, and were victorious. Now the roles were reversed with Chester having just twelve players, so Dolgellau sportingly played twelve a side.

The game that unfolded today had spectators aghast. Maybe the promised christmas dinner excellently provided by the hosts after the match encouraged the players; whatever it was, this was a game thoroughly enjoyed by the 60+ spectators, and excellently refereed.

The lead changed hands six times, and at 38-38 the scores were level, but Dolgellau converted their try to take the lead at 40-38 with five minutes to go – a lead they retained.

Both teams played to their game plan and with the scores so close can be satisfied with their efforts. The chosen players of the match were both the standoffs. All players deserve credit for participating in this spectacle.
