The veteran lock won his 87th cap for Wales at the Millennium Stadium against Italy after making his debut against the All Blacks way back in 1989.

‘I think what has kept me going is the fact that I’ve been dropped by all seven Welsh coaches who I have played under,’ said the 35-year-old.

‘I have been thinking about it a lot recently, maybe it’s a craving for success – or the lack of it.

‘But basically I love playing the game and representing your country is something that is almost impossible to just give up on.
