They roared away to score 24 points without reply by the interval. with Caerphilly fly half Justin Thomas had won his first Wales cap whilst playing at full back for Llanelli, having his kick was charged down for wing Viv Jenkins to gather and score the first try. Llanelli had led 9-0 with a hat-trick of penalties by fly half Ceiron Thomas and just before the interval they scored again when centre Jonathan Lewis carved his way over for Thomas to convert.

In the second half Caerphilly failed to change their tactics and Llanelli kept it tight into the wind, conceding only two penalty goals from full back Stuart Thomas for the visitors. Referee Howard Hopkins failed to finish the match as he tore a hamstring and was replaced by Hugh Banfield. Carmarthen Quins were just robbed of victory at Pontypridd, going down to Wales under-19 fly half fly half Dan Flanagan’s third penalty near the end.
