The Welsh Development Squad continued their winning form with a convincing 66-0 win over Scotland Under 23s at Taffs Well RFC on Sunday. The two teams met last season at Murrayfield with a closer score line, coming from behind to win 15-7.

The young Welsh squad, with an average age of only 21, went out all guns blazing on Sunday and added three tries within the first ten minutes, two from Under 19 winger Gemma Williams. The Welsh backs passed the ball wide and full back Lowena Sandercock added the third, running in under the posts. Paula Mullen converted the try adding a penalty minutes later to bring the score to 20-0.

Scotland started to apply the pressure midway through the half with several attacks on the Welsh line but Wales defended well and got the ball safe. The Welsh forwards worked hard to secure good ball and half backs Amy Day and Paula Mullen spun the ball out wide to give winger Hannnah Szgetvari the fourth try before half time.

Wales came out in the second half and added seven more tries from Amy Day, Lowena Sandercock, Hannah Szgetvari, Vikki Gaylard, Cheryl Tyler and two more from Gemma Williams to bring the final score to 66-0.

Wales Development now face France A at Llanrumney on Friday 5th March.
