Billy Trew Jr, who skippered the All Whites in season 1930-31, was the son of the legendary W J (Billy) Trew, who played for Wales against the 1905 All Blacks and was capped 29 times in various back positions.

It was a hard act to follow for Billy Jr. whose father died in Swansea 77 years ago at the age of 48. However, he made his Swansea debut just a month after his father’s death in 1926 and played only a further six weeks later that season in his club’s 11-6 loss to the touring Maoris team.

Billy Jr, whose brothers Harry and Bert also played for Swansea, died on July 8, 2003.
