Welsh Rugby Union | Wales & Regions | Wales Women Announce U16 Training Squad…

Now in its third season, this squad will get together in August for a training camp at the Welsh Institute of Sport. With the emphasis purely on the development of the player, the squad will play just one game against the West Midlands U16 on August 24^th.

The squad is proof of how the game has developed over the last few seasons with players from such places as Pembroke, Caernarfon, Mold, Builth Wells and Cwmbran.

Coached by North Wales development officer and National Squad flanker Kylie Wilson, the 31 strong squad will also come under the eye of the new WWRU elite co-ordinator Zoe Eaton who will track their careers from here through to senior and hopefully international level.

Kylie Wilson said “It has been so difficult to select this squad. There is a constant increase in quality and quantity at this age group that in turn makes the selectors job so hard. However, we do feel we have the best players in Wales in this squad and we now look forward to working them through the summer.”

All these players will now attend regional centres of development prior to their camp in August.
