Cardiff opened the scoring when wing Dean Dewdney crossed after 10 minutes, and they doubled their lead on the half-hour mark when flanker Jim Brownrigg thundered over. Had young outside half Nicky Robinson packed his goal kicking boots, the Blue and Blacks would have built a healthy lead, but both conversion attempts and a penalty shot went wide.

Bridgend fought back, but despite hammering the Cardiff try line for sustained periods in the closing minutes of the first half, but were unable to register a try.
Gareth Cull kicked a penalty goal after 38 minutes take the score to 10-3 at the interval.

The second half scoring began with an exchange of penalties by Robinson and then Cull, but soon after when Abdul scored his first try of the game to put daylight between the sides.
Bridgend responded with a try five minutes later, wing Mathew Owen outstripping the Cardiff defence to give the Ravens hope.

An early exchange of penalties in the second half gave both sides three points apiece before Cardiff wing Lee grabbed the first of his two tries.

Bridgend hit back five minutes later with a Matthew Owen try, but plans of a comeback were dashed when replacement Chris Davies was given a yellow card for a foul on Richard Smith.

Cardiff put the result beyond doubt 10 minutes from time when Abdul scored his second try on the evening.
