Tonight sees Cardiff take on Neath, both sides welcome back players from the international squad – and Cardiff will need them if they are to the topple the league leaders.

With just two wins from five games, even as this early stage, the Blue and Blacks need a good showing at the Arms Park to keep them in the hunt for the title.

Neath will be targeting the Welsh Premiership as their main chance of honours this season after an early exit from the Heineken Cup and defeat to Munster in the Celtic League final.

Last season’s Welsh/Scottish League runners-up Newport have has a reasonable start to this year’s campaign -winning four of their seven games to sit in third spot in the table.

They come up against Caerphilly, who, despite progressing to the PARKER PEN CHALLENGE CUP semi-final, find themselves familiar position at the foot of the top Welsh division.

However, Mark Ring’s side are working hard to earn respectability in the top flight. In their last two home league matches took they Swansea to a one-point 20-19 match and then beat Ebbw Vale 31-28.

The Black and Ambers give a welcome return to David Llewellyn, who had been in the wilderness for three years.

In the other weekend tie, Swansea and Ebbw Vale meet for the third time this year. So far the spoils have been shared, and Saturday’s game will be a chance for one team to take the initiate in the series.

After a good start to the campaign, Ebbw Vale has slipped down the table, and have just three wins from nine games, Swansea are also having a poor domestic season, with just two wins from six games.
