Last Saturday’s Division One matches saw Pontypool confirm their status as the top club and indeed, the only unbeaten side in what is shaping up to be a tight Division.

Despite trailing at Bedwas with 20 minutes remaining and with Sam Waldron sent off, Pontypool’s 14 men rallied and with Byron Hayward reaching a century of points in only six matches. Pooler turned it round to win 31-22.

Narberth recovered from last week’s slip-up against Whitland to win by 20-13 at Tredegar, despite losing fly half Simon Daniel with injury.

Aberavon got back on track by defeating Llanharan 39-15 and Carmarthen Quins beat Bonymaen 28-22, despite being outscored 3-1 on tries. Fly half Giles Thomas kept up his remarkable 100 % goal kicking record this season. Thomas has now scored 32 times in a row. His 23 points on Saturday took his season total to 86.

Blackwood won a high-scoring match by 40-30 at Treorchy. Martin Jones scored 25 for Blackwood and Matthew Hutchings 15 for Treorchy.

Rumney join Treorchy at the bottom after losing a 21-20 lead at home to Newbridge and going down 32-21, while Cross Keys were good winners by 22-6 at Tondu.

Beddau made a fine effort before going down 34-20 at Whitland where Dan Griffiths scored 14 points for the Borderers and at Church Bank, the Llandovery Drovers were surprisingly edged out 29-28 by Glamorgan Wanderers.

Full back Jason Pocock was the man of the hour scoring 19 points, while Tal Selly completed a notable double- following his try on Friday for Llanelli the wing/centre scored a try for Llandovery on Saturday.
