Newport Are Youth League Winners

The final of the BT Dragons Rugby Trust National Youth League was won by Newport last night as they defeated Swansea Youth by a convincing 38-12 scoreline in a match played in the Millennium Stadium.
Newport scored 5-2 on tries with fly half Alix Jerrett scoring two and one each coming from centre Robert Tripp, man of the match Rhys Miller and flanker David Tovey. Jerrett added a penalty and drop goal and Darryl Carter converted twice and kicked a penalty.
Swansea contributed two tries – one each by centre Aron May and full back James Horner, with the latter converting the first try.
Card-ff-based police officer Barry Gregory gave a fine display as the man with the whistle.
In the Welsh Schools Under-16 Cup final, Dwr-y-Felin Comprehensive defeated Maesteg Comprehensive by 30-24 in a free-flowing match in which the winners also won the try-count by 5-3 with no.8 forward Scott Jeremy collecting a brace.
